In this webinar, we will delve into the concept of enzyme activity vs. specific activity, enzyme classes, and how to identify a specific enzyme through reactions or simple mechanistic drawings.
At a glance
Calculate activity and specific activity
Read enzyme activity tables
Determine necessary enzyme type from reaction and/or mechanism
Optimal temperature and pH for enzymes
Activity vs. specific activity
Types of control mechanisms for enzyme regulation
The 6 enzyme classes
Basic orgo mechanisms for the most commonly tested enzymes
On the MCAT
Calculating with enzyme activity is tricky, so practice!
Enzyme classes will have heavy references to biopathways and organic chemistry. Many questions can be solved by knowing your enzyme classes!
A general tip is to NOT pick redox for an answer unless you are absolutely sure redox is happening.
I think these webinars are really helpful! I like how they’re styled like a TED talk, so they don’t interfere with the day, but they’re really helpful review 🙂
I found everything helpful about these webinars: the explanations, the illustrations, just everything!
Amazing material conveyed concisely and in great detail!
The wealth of information and sample questions are great.
